TYPE 74 MBT

Type 74 is a turret type battle tank developed under the partnership of Mitsubishi heavy industries and Japanese ground self defense force back in 1972 to replace their then main battle tank, it uses a number of features from western designs like the hull of leopard 1, british L7 105mm gun, oil pnuematic suspension, which allowed free control over the tank's body height. This is also the world's first tank to get a advanceed computer for ballistic calculations. It also had laser rangefinder, which was later upgraded with infra-red imagers. Even today 873 of these tanks are still used as the main stay of the Japanese ground self-defense force tanks and type 90 is serving as the main battle tank.
